Situated on Front St. just before the intersection of Franklin St. It is saidthat in the early colonial days this house was occupied by a man who was suspected by his neighbors of being a pirate. The suspicion at length came to the knowledge of the officers of the crown, and one of them came to Marblehead on horse- back to investigate the matter. The pirate was notified by his friends in time to escape from the town, and never returned. An examination of the house revealed a large quantity of valu- able silks and other goods, proving that the suspicions were well founded. Long since torn down.....
